Twitter basics:
- Basic communication on twitter:
There are 3 ways to communicate, express and have conversations with others on twitter.
If you feel called to answer to some one you may use either the public reply, which will show up in your tweet stream or the direct message which is private, one to one (you can´t use direct message unless the person is following you). You can send public replies to anyone regardless if they are folowing you back or not.
You may also Retweet those tweets that inspire you, thus expanding the message, aknowledging the person and allowing for more connections to happen.
- Basic vocabulary:
- @ is how you identify a tweep you are addressing or tweeting about. (ex. @thetransitioner). Twitter will automatically turn the username into a hyperlink to his or her profile.
- Reply means to respond to a particular tweet. You can reply by starting a tweet with @username. There are easier ways to do this. Explore the arrow in your twitter account page or use some other application.
- Retweet means to pass along something you read from one of the people you follow. You start a retweet with "RT @username"
Twitter activities for different levels of skills:
- Take time to go further in your twitter experience based on your skill level. Some ideas are:
- New users may go to basic vocabulary, follow users, go into the twitting experience
- Medium users may go to testing cell phone messaging, testing/reviewing new tools, fully test the twitter search, follow some RSS feeds of keywords that matter to you.
- Experience users can try to crowdsource a burning question, help others, create an experience for the experts sub-group (tag it),write a blog entry in our community platform, engage with twollars or whuffies to see how freecurrencies are a reality in the twittersphere.
